Heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat and cool a home in the Fraser Valley climate, and the BC government is paying homeowners to install them through the CleanBC program. The catch is that the heat pump itself is only half the job. The other half is the electrical: a dedicated circuit at the right amperage, a disconnect switch within sight of the unit, and a load calculation to confirm your panel can support it.

We do the electrical side of heat pump installs in coordination with HVAC contractors across Langley and Fraser Valley. We pull the permit, run the circuit, install the disconnect, and have the inspector sign off so the homeowner can submit the rebate paperwork.

What is Included

Every job includes

  • Load calculation to confirm your panel can support the new circuit
  • Dedicated 240V circuit at the heat pump's required amperage
  • Disconnect switch installed within sight of the unit, per BC Electrical Code
  • Clean cable run to outdoor unit and indoor air handler
  • Coordination with your HVAC contractor on schedule
  • Permit pulled, inspection scheduled, paperwork ready for CleanBC rebate submission
Transparent Pricing

$1,200 to $2,400 typical

Pricing varies with run length, panel availability, and whether a service or panel upgrade is needed. Many heat pump installs trigger a need for a service upgrade if the home is on 100A.

Rebates

Available rebates

CleanBC Better Homes Heat Pump rebates can total $6,000 or more when combining federal Greener Homes, BC Hydro, and Fortis BC programs. The electrical portion of the install is included in the rebate. We provide the inspection paperwork required for submission.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

  • Sometimes yes, sometimes no. A modern variable-speed heat pump on a small home with gas water heating often fits. A heat pump plus EV charger plus electric range usually does not. Load calculation tells us for sure.
  • Yes. Every dedicated circuit install in BC requires a Technical Safety BC permit. The HVAC contractor pulls a separate permit for the mechanical side. We pull the electrical.
  • The BC Electrical Code requires a disconnect within sight of the outdoor unit. We typically mount it on the exterior wall next to the heat pump.
  • Yes. We coordinate scheduling so the electrical is in place when the HVAC team arrives, and the inspector signs off in one visit when possible.
